Project Description

Aluminati were chosen by Northampton to help launch an online mentoring scheme. The Aluminate platform was deployed in the spring of 2014 and swiftly attracted over 200 mentor volunteers in the first few weeks.

The Northampton Alumni E-Mentoring Scheme offers a platform for students to connect with University of Northampton graduates who offer a number of mentoring services such as:

  • CV advice
  • professional and academic guidance
  • work shadowing
  • internships
This service provides both students and alumni with an opportunity to connect and communicate with each other as both mentor and mentee.
The Alumni E-Mentoring Scheme has already produced a number of success stories:

Geography BSc (Hons) student Thomas Fojut was mentored by an alumnus working in town planning and now has a job as a Graduate Transport Planner. Thomas has said of the Alumni E-Mentoring Scheme: “I feel that the experience has benefited me, because I now think it is the field of work I would like to be involved in as a career.”
