In March 2017, the International School of Geneva (Ecolint) worked with Aluminati to develop and launch a new online platform that enables both young and more experienced alumni to seek career-related advice from alumni mentors within a network of thousands of alumni worldwide. The eMentoring service, branded as Ecolint Connect, makes it easy for mentors and mentees to find each other and engage in a structured exchange.
The project included Single Sign On (SSO) integration with their YourMembership alumni system so that users could easily sign into Ecolint Connect using their alumni website login details.
We recognised a real desire among our alumni community to share their professional experience, particularly with current students at the International School of Geneva. We also saw potential for our younger alumni, most of whom are at university, to benefit from drawing on the support and knowledge of their older counterparts. The idea of putting in place an eMentoring platform that we could offer as an add-on to our already well-established alumni community led us to approaching Aluminati.
While there are a number of providers in this space, the eMentoring platform that seemed most attractive to us was Aluminate. We reviewed the range of options on the market, but found that only Aluminati offered the combination of a standalone eMentoring module and integration with the SSO of our existing platform.
We hope to foster a growing number of mentor-mentee partnerships that will evolve into a culture of experience-sharing among our alumni. When we extend the platform to current students, we hope that the ability to draw on the experience of alumni will be seen by our school’s Guidance team, the students and their parents as adding real value to the process of choosing subjects and university paths.
The Aluminati team have been highly professional, highly organised and a pleasure to work with. They took us through each step of the process, providing us with everything we needed to define our requirements, test the implementation, make the necessary customisations and roll it out to our community. We’ve been very happy with the experience.

The service will also be launched to Y12 and Y13 students in the future, to help them make decisions about university courses and possible future career paths.
