Cambridge launched its own email forwarding service in 1999. From day one, this service proved extremely popular and attracted more than 30,000 alumni over the next nine years. However, in 2008, Aluminati was appointed to upgrade the service by extending the email facility to a fully featured email account, and facilitating the membership to INCREASE further.

Within 12 months, the new and improved service had more than 45,000 alumni and was receiving in excess of 10,000 visits per day. Between 60% and 70% of leavers join the service every year, making it one of our most successful. During 2012, Aluminati is committed to undertake an integration into Cambridge’s new iModules online alumni platform, allowing alumni to log in to their email accounts without having to perform an additional sign-in.

The University of Cambridge Alumni Relations Office has had an agreement with Aluminati since summer 2008 for the provision of an email for life service for its alumni community of over 200,000. The University selected Aluminati for their highly professional and pro-active approach, strong understanding of the higher education environment, competitive and reasonable pricing policy and very good overall customer service.

In all of these areas we have been consistently impressed by Aluminati’s performance, and the feedback from our current 44,000 alumni users has been uniformly positive. The membership of the service has grown by just under 25% in the past year, and now deals with almost 10,000 alumni visits per day. Aluminati are also working with a number of the individual Cambridge Colleges to launch collegiate branded services, which is proving popular and successful both with the Colleges and their alumni.

The positive results observed over the last year have clearly reinforced our decision to upgrade the forwarding-only system to the comprehensive email service offered by Aluminati. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Aluminati to other Universities to run their email services for alumni.
